Intensive Outpatient Program
What Are IOPs?
Intensive outpatient programs (IOPs) are group treatment programs that address alcohol and drug addiction. IOPs are specifically designed to accommodate people who do not need detox or round-the-clock care, or who have already completed a residential program. This type of programming is less restrictive than residential treatment and allows clients to live at home and continue with their jobs, schooling, and other responsibilities.
IOPs benefit individuals who can manage many aspects of their life while simultaneously receiving the necessary support and treatment to overcome their addiction. Many people who have graduated from a residential program will continue their treatment through an IOP to reinforce the skills they learned during their inpatient stay.
IOP at St. Gregory Recovery Center
At St. Gregory’s outpatient treatment in Des Moines, sessions are led by skilled mental health professionals who will teach clients about:
- relapse triggers: how to recognize and avoid them;
- the basics of what causes addiction;
- communication and life skills;
- establishing a strong support system, both within the family and the larger community.
Currently, our IOP meetings will be held Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 5:30-8:30pm. Sessions will begin in a telehealth setting until we are able to meet in person.
